Drone Survey Begins for Etmadpur Flyover in Agra

The National Highways Authority of India has initiated a phased drone survey for the Etmadpur flyover to facilitate infrastructure planning and reduce traffic congestion on the National Highway in Uttar Pradesh.

Drones took to the skies above the Etmadpur highway cut in Agra to launch a detailed aerial survey for the proposed flyover.

The operation began on or around June 13, 2026, with teams from the National Highways Authority of India executing the work in multiple phases across the site. The survey collects high-resolution geospatial data to support precise engineering decisions for the structure on the National Highway.

Drone platforms enable rapid capture of terrain details, elevation profiles, and existing road alignments without prolonged ground crew exposure or extended lane closures. This method delivers centimeter-level accuracy for digital elevation models and orthomosaic maps that planners use to finalize flyover alignment and foundation placement.

Traffic congestion at the Etmadpur intersection has long affected commercial and commuter movement along the corridor. The flyover is intended to separate through traffic from local movements, shortening travel times and lowering accident risk at the grade crossing.

Phased execution allows survey crews to cover primary approach roads first, then the central junction area, ensuring complete data sets before design work advances. The National Highways Authority of India coordinates flight paths with local authorities to maintain safety margins around active roadways.

Amar Ujala reported the commencement of these drone operations on June 13, 2026, confirming NHAI involvement and the focus on infrastructure relief. Similar drone surveys have become standard practice for National Highway projects because they reduce field time from weeks to days while producing data suitable for both civil engineering software and traffic simulation models.

Once processed, the survey outputs will feed directly into detailed project reports and tender documents. Highway authorities expect the resulting flyover to improve throughput at the location, benefiting enforcement units that monitor commercial vehicle movement and respond to incidents along this stretch of National Highway. This survey marks an important step in modernizing India's highway infrastructure.
