Vincent J. Bove stood before the NYPD Strategic Response Group at its Manhattan facility as the morning shift prepared for duty on May 26, 2026.
The visit marked a return invitation after earlier sessions. Bove focused on tactical coordination required for large-scale events that draw global attention to the city.
Sergeant Robert Livingston spoke insightfully about the tremendous pride members of SRG take in their mission, particularly the opportunity to protect the city during major world-class events requiring extensive coordination, preparedness, and tactical readiness, Bove later recalled.
By afternoon Bove moved north to Harlem’s 32nd Precinct for roll call. Deputy Inspector Cary Rose outlined operational rhythms unique to the command.
Deputy Inspector Rose described the unusual level of respect and appreciation members of the Harlem community demonstrate toward the police officers serving there, noting small business owners already outside cleaning sidewalks and preparing their businesses before the city fully awakens, according to Bove.
Police Officer Ellen Usher, who has served 33 consecutive years at the 32nd Precinct, joined the session. Her tenure underscored the continuity of patrol knowledge passed across generations of officers.
Bove’s schedule illustrated the range of assignments that define daily operations for the department, from specialized response teams handling citywide threats to precinct personnel maintaining direct neighborhood contact.
Photographs from both locations were credited to on-site personnel and later appeared with the June 2, 2026 account published on LawOfficer.com.
