Drone deliveries from Walmart could reach Philadelphia residents by 2027 via a partnership with Wing.
On June 8, 2026, Wing and Walmart announced the addition of seven new U.S. metro areas to their drone delivery operations. Philadelphia joins Memphis, New Orleans, Phoenix, San Diego, the San Francisco Bay Area, and Salt Lake City.
Services in these new locations, including Philadelphia, are targeted to commence by 2027. The plan encompasses more than 270 drone delivery locations that will serve over 40 million customers.
Walmart and its partners, including Wing, had already completed over 1 million drone deliveries as of May 29, 2026, in markets where the service operates.
Heather Rivera, Chief Business Officer at Wing, highlighted customer reliance on the service. "Our work with Walmart has shown that drone delivery isn’t just a novelty, it’s a service many customers count on multiple times per week," Rivera said.
The details were published on Wing.com and covered by Supply Chain Dive and DroneLife, noting the expansion brings the total to nearly 20 markets.
The scale of these operations introduces substantial unmanned aircraft activity into urban airspace across multiple regions. Law enforcement and security units responsible for drone detection will encounter higher volumes of commercial flights as the network grows.
