Walmart and Wing Expand Drone Delivery to Seven New Cities

Wing and Walmart will launch drone deliveries in seven new metro areas by 2027, expanding service to nearly 20 markets and 40 million residents.

Wing's drone delivery operations are expanding rapidly through a new agreement with Walmart that covers seven major American cities.

The June 8, 2026 announcement specifies launches in Memphis, New Orleans, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Diego, the San Francisco Bay Area, and Salt Lake City.

By 2027 these additions will increase Wing's U.S. footprint to nearly 20 markets serving approximately 40 million people.

The companies have already executed more than one million commercial drone deliveries in current operational zones.

Heather Rivera, Chief Business Officer of Wing, commented on the progress: “We’re already working with many communities in the seven new markets, as we accelerate our progress to bring ultra-fast delivery to 40 million residents throughout the U.S.”

This development marks a measurable increase in unmanned aerial system activity across additional jurisdictions. Law enforcement agencies in the seven new markets will encounter higher volumes of autonomous drone traffic operating under existing FAA frameworks. Agencies utilizing drone mitigation platforms, behavioral intelligence tools, and airspace monitoring software can reference the 2027 timeline when calibrating detection thresholds and response protocols for the listed metro areas.
